PReVENT RA

PRe-clinical EValuation
of Novel Targets in RA

Welcome to the PREVeNT RA study registration website.

You will have been directed to this site if you are a FIRST DEGREE RELATIVE (mother, father, brother, half brother, sister, half sister, son or daughter) of someone who has, or has had, rheumatoid arthritis.

In order to take part in this study, please note that you must:

  • Not have rheumatoid arthritis or any inflammatory arthritis yourself
  • Be aged over 30
  • Be resident in the UK
  • Be willing to consent to complete questionnaires
  • Be willing to give a blood sample
  • Be willing to inform the study centre if you develop symptoms which may be related to rheumatoid arthritis
On this website you will be asked to:
  • Register your details (name and address)
  • Download and read the Participant Information Sheet and Transparency Information Sheet for the study
  • Click on the consent form where indicated to show that you have read the Information Sheet and accept the terms of participating in the study (we suggest that you take at least 24 hours to read and consider the Information Sheet before consenting)
  • Complete the online questionnaire which you will be directed to on this site (note this does not have to be completed all at once, you can save and carry on later. The online questionnaire takes approximately 20 minutes to complete)

After completing the questionnaire, you will be sent a blood sampling kit in the post which is labelled with your unique code number. You should take this to your GP to request a blood sample (using the kit) then post the sample in the box provided to the study centre. Postage is already paid for this.
Alternatively you will be given a list of places where you can take your blood sample kit to have the sample taken by a research nurse.

If at any point you have any queries, please contact the Study Team on 0161 275 5504.

Recruitment is now closed for the study. Please contact preventra@manchester.ac.uk if you have any queries
